Vote With Your Kids

Today is election day. I’ll be headed to the polls later. I’m waiting for my husband to get off work – not so that he can watch the kidswhile I go vote but so that we can go as a family. We take the kids with us. There have been a few times when schedules prevented us from going together, but I still took the kids with me.

Learning about citizenship doesn’t start when someone turns eighteen. If we expect to have citizens who are knowledgable and concerned about our country, we need to include all citizens, including those who currently don’t, but will some day be able to, vote.

  1. I have fond memories of going to the polls with my Mom as a kid. They had kid ballots to fill out, with a choice of George Washington or Abraham Lincoln for president. I can’t remember who I always voted for, but I think it was Lincoln.
