A few days before my daughter’s first birthday, I took my children to the local children’s farmstead. She was enthralled with the animals, wanting to stay and watch each one, excitedlt signing and making sounds. I knew a farm cake would be the perfect first birthday cake.
My original plan involved multiple tiers and animals handmade out of fondant. However, I quickly remembered that, regardless of the recipe, our family hates fondant. I woudl be spending all of that time to take a picture befor ethrowing the fondant animals away. Using some Little People farm animals seemed a much more practical decision. I still planned on at least two tiers, but the cake had other plans. It ended up simple, but I don’t think my one year old liked it any less.
