One day at lunch, my 5 year old was asking me about colors. “If you mix blue-green with yellow-orange, exactly what color do you get?” We had been through several, with me mentally calculating how certain mixtures would come out and with me asking her what she thought for some of them. My 7 year old chimed in and answered what he thought some of the complex color combinations would be. Then my daughter asked, “What color would you get if you mixed all of the colors in the whole entire world?” I was curious what my son would say and waited as he came up with his answer. He replied, “The color of a rainbow.”
The answer was so simple and yet so deep. If only some adults could view the world (and the people in it) with such open-mindedness, this would be a much different place.
